Army emulates Marines with forward logistic stockpiles

NY Times:

Army’s Plans to Relocate Gear Offer Map to Future Roles

The United States Army intends to relocate some of its vast overseas stores of combat equipment to suit a changing mission after the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.
One of the reasons the Marines were able to move so quickly in the build up to war in the Persian Gulf was their forward logistic stockpiles.  The Army is already doing this in Kuwait and they probably have some other locations near future trouble spots.  I suspect they see a need near the South China Sea where the Chinese have been aggressively claiming offshore areas that others have claimed for centuries.  If we have a confrontation with China it is likely to be in that area.  Guam is a likely base.  We are already re-positioning Marines to Guam.
