Houston return to normal

I had to take the Prairiewife in to Houston to pick up her car we left with an empty tank at a station with no gas last Thursday. The station still had no gas (Diamond Shamrock), however the trip into Houston was eventful only by the fact that while the triffice was heavy there was no backup by the normal traffic trying to get on the closer you got to Houston. There were several stations opened. The huge RaceTrack station on Jones Road was busy without a long line. That seemed to be the usual pattern where stations were opened. I saw several Shell stations opened also. I poured some gas from a five gallon container into her car and she was off to get a real fillup.

It is hard to imagine how different the situation was when I had to travel in to Houston to pick her up.

The heat generated by Rita is still oppressive. Hopefully I can get all the plywood down in another day or so.
