The Jill Biden presidency

 Frontpage:

A forthcoming book by journalists Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson sheds light on the role former First Lady Jill Biden played in managing the public perception of President Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities and her significant influence in the White House.

“Original Sin,” scheduled for release next week, explores how Dr. Biden worked to shield her husband from negative press and the declining trajectory of his re-election campaign.

Compiling insights from over 200 Democratic insiders, the book illustrates Jill Biden as a protective figure, often reprimanding staff privately while publicly supporting her husband. She reportedly assisted him during conversations and extracted him from challenging situations.

Jill Biden performed a service to the country as she stepped in to guide her husband, suffering from cognitive decline.  In that regard, she might be compared to Edith Wilson, who took charge when Presdient Woodrow Wilson suffered a stroke that made him unable to perform his duties with vigor. There needs to be a process for dealing with presidents who are incapable of handling the job becasue of mental health problems.  Congress should be able to declare the inabilities and replace a president in those circumstances with the Vice President.  In Biden's case, that might not have been much of an improvement, considering the weaknesses of Kamala Harris.  She was a poor choice for the job, and yet that was another failing of Joe Biden.
