Republicans have 10 point lead on handling of economy

New polling data presented by one of the top hosts at CNN has left its liberal viewing audience reeling. For many decades, the Democratic Party presented itself as looking out for the middle class.

But Republicans have closed the gap under President Donald Trump’s leadership, and could soon bypass the left and officially become the party of the working class. Democrats have been taking a proverbial beating ever since the November 2024 election, when Trump soundly won the presidency, taking all seven swing states.

As of now, the Republicans hold a 10-point lead on the economy, after just four months with President Trump at the helm.

CNN analyst Harry Enten was absolutely floored by the positive polling numbers for the GOP on the economy, despite so many Americans reportedly being worried about a recession and the wild swings of the stock market.

Enten went on to explain the reason for his shock. He expected Democrats to have a substantial lead over Republicans on the economy after the “tumultuous” start to Trump’s second term.

“It ain’t so, it ain’t so. The party that is closest to your economic views: in November of 2023, it was Republicans by 11 points. Now it’s still within that range, still within that margin of error, plus an eight-point advantage for the Republican Party,” Enten remarked Monday. “How is that possible, Democrats? How is that possible?”

“After the stock market’s been doing all of this, after all the tariffs that are Americans are against, and Republicans still hold an eight-point lead on the economy? Are you kidding me?” he continued during the segment.

Enten then showed that similar results existed across several different polls, including one that was conducted by Reuters/Ipsos.

“Well, in May of 2024, just before Donald Trump was reelected president, Republicans had a nine-point advantage. Look at where we are now, in May of 2025. The advantage actually went up by three points. Now, Republicans have a 12-point advantage when it comes to the party with a better economic plan,” he explained, pointing to the Reuters/Ipsos polling.

“And again, this is after months of supposed economic uncertainty, in which the stock market’s been going bonkers and in which the tariff wars that Americans are against have been going on. And yet, despite all of that, the Democrats are down by 12 points on the economy,” he said.

The highly animated analyst pointed out that the Democrats are at risk of losing a critical part of their base. When voters were asked which party best represented the middle class, it was a tie. Formerly, Democrats had a massive lead in that department. No more.
...

The current Democrats are pretty awful, and it will probably take some time for voters to forget how bad Biden was.  At this point, Biden is rated as one of the worst presidents in American history.  Biden made Trump look like a genius.  It will probably take a while for Americans to forget about the Biden presidency.
