Dems struggle to regain trust on economy

In a surprising twist, CNN analyst Harry Enten expressed disbelief on Monday as fresh polling data revealed the Democratic Party’s persistent lag behind Republicans on economic issues. Despite market turbulence, recession concerns, and President Trump’s controversial tariff push, Democrats have failed to seize an advantage on what voters consistently rank as their top priority.

“You’d expect that Democrats would have this massive lead on the economy — it ain’t so! It ain’t so!” Enten exclaimed, unveiling CNN’s latest May survey. The numbers painted a stark picture: Republicans hold an eight-point lead over Democrats when voters were asked which party was “closer to your economic views.”

This gap, while slightly narrower than the 11-point Republican advantage in a November 2023 CNN poll, remains a stubborn hurdle for Democrats. “How is that possible, Democrats!?” Enten asked.

The CNN data, still within the margin of error of prior surveys, isn’t an outlier. Other polls, like the recent Reuters/Ipsos survey, show Republicans not just maintaining but expanding their edge.

In May 2024, before Trump’s re-election, Republicans led by nine points on which party had a “better economic plan.” Fast forward to May 2025, and that lead has grown to 12 points.

I must not be the only one who has a low regard for the current Democrat leadership.  Biden was a disaster who caused significant inflation and appeared as inept as a person with dementia ordinarily would.  If Biden is the best the Democrats have, then they are in serious trouble with voters.  With Biden now out of consideration, no Democrat has really stepped up to replace him.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
