Dems refused National Guard protection of Capitol on January 6

CLAIM: “On January 6th…we begged the President of the United States to send in the National Guard. He would not do it.” 

VERDICT: FALSE. Trump offered the National Guard ahead of time, but Democrats refused.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) claimed Tuesday in a news conference on Capitol Hill that President Trump refused to send the National Guard to protect the Capitol from rioters on January 6, 2021.

Her point was to contrast Trump’s supposed refusal to protect the Capitol with his apparent enthusiasm for federalizing the California National Guard in recent days to quell left-wing riots in Los Angeles, California.

She made her remarks among other California Democrats, who called on the President to withdraw the Guard and the Marines from L.A. Some, such as L.A. Mayor Karen Bass, have even said that the president should suspend immigration enforcement as a precondition for ending the violence, as if justifying the riots.

Pelosi repeated several false claims, including the claim that the January 6 riot resulted in the deaths of law enforcement officers. Her main point, however, was that Trump had refused to summon the National Guard.

The Democrats have shown an irrational hatred and oppostion to Trump ever since he was elected, and the consequences have been a disservice to the country and to the protection of the Capitol.  The Democrats' request to withdraw the Guard from the LA riots was absurd and only further endangered citizens and law enforcement.

As a former Marine Corps officer, I am certain that the Marines involved in this operation will do a competent job and make the city safer.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
