VP Vance responds to Biden criticism

 DC Daily Journal:

“I think it’s rich for Joe Biden to comment on anything we’re doing when it comes to Russia and Ukraine because of course under Biden’s administration, Russia launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine,” Vance told The Story host Martha MacCallum.

His words carried a pointed edge, framing Biden’s tenure as the catalyst for the ongoing war’s escalation. Vance’s response emphasizes a narrative of deflecting criticism by highlighting the previous administration’s perceived failures.

Vance’s retort leaned on a familiar refrain: “If we wanted to take advice from anybody on foreign policy, especially foreign policy in Europe, it would not be Joe Biden.”

With a nod to his characteristic bluntness, he added, “So I wish Joe Biden the best. I don’t really care what he has to say about American foreign policy because so much of what he actually did was a total disaster.”

This “I don’t really care” line echoed a previous exchange in January, when Vance brushed off CBS’s Margaret Brennan with, “I don’t really care, Margaret,” during a discussion about Afghan refugees.

The vice president didn’t stop at dismissal. He argued that reversing Biden’s policies could lead to “one of the most successful foreign policy administrations in a very long time.”

Suggesting Biden retire to “the beach or doing whatever Joe Biden does,” Vance positioned the Trump administration as the solution to problems inherited from its predecessor.

Joe Biden was one of the least successful presidents in US history.  While some of it could be attributed to his cognitive decline, he also surrounded himself with people who couldn't be described as "the best and brightest."  Biden's weakness has been attributed to the war between Russia and Ukraine after there was talk of Ukraine joining NATO.  That war has led to the deaths of thousands on both sides.  The only potential good thing about that war is that it exposed the conventional military weakness of Russia.  But that exposure might cause a weak Putin to go nuclear.
