Democrats incompetent negotiation strategy

I have mentioned before that I have never seen a successful negotiation where once side engages in serial insults of the other.  That is what the Democrats are doing with all sorts of hyperbole and vituperation aimed at Republicans.

I have seen a similar negotiation strategy out of North Korea, but that approach has left them isolated and in deeper trouble.  Why do Democrats think such an approach will get to yes?  It is certainly not clear, but it could be frustration on their part of not having total control of the government and learning how to work with an opposition party.  When they had huge majorities in Obama's first term, they just blew off the Republicans with Obama dismissing their ideas with a curt "I won."  They appear to be trying to go back to that approach, but it is one that has led to everlasting enmity on Obamacare and it will only make things more difficult for them going forward.

The Republicans are trying to come up with an approach that will get a majority of votes this evening.  If they do so, the Democrats in the Senate may have to decide whether they would rather go into default than accept the House bill.  Harry Reid will have a decision to make, and saying no will create a greater dillemma for him and the Democrats.
