The Times Square bomber's reaction to being sentenced to life imprisonment tells us a lot about our current struggle. Namely, he reminded Americans that jihadists are in a war to the death with us.
It's been a long time since September 11th, but Islamism's enemies of Western civilization are on the warpath every bit as much as they were on that day.
After attempting to blow up a Nissan Pathfinder in Times Square in New York City in May, possibly killing dozens of innocents, Pakistani immigrant Faisal Shahzad said he wished to "plead guilty 100 times over."
On Tuesday, as he was sentenced to life in prison in federal district court, the University of Bridgeport MBA grinned and defiantly warned Americans to "brace yourselves, because the war with Muslims has just begun."
He promised that "the defeat of the U.S. is imminent and will happen in the near future."
Shahzad is a classic sleeper terrorist, trained by the Taliban in Waziristan and well-blended into the U.S. economy and culture.
There are undoubtedly dozens if not hundreds of others matching his description who may try to succeed where he failed.

When Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad tells America "may the undertaker bury you, your table and your body, which has soiled the world," before Iranian armed forces in Tehran, as he did over the weekend, it should not be viewed as saber rattling.
If Ahmadinejad gets the bomb, a secret cell of Shahzads hidden here or in Europe could someday get hold of it.

Jihadists are not going to stop trying to kill Americans, and that should be the premise we always operate under. Young, disillusioned Muslims will always be there — or here — seeking to become the next Mohamed Atta.
The same victim-class mentality that the left has done so much to cultivate among Americans here exists among Muslims living abroad, too.

These religious bigots seem to think it is unfair for the US to fight back against their mass murder for Allah attacks. They view resistance to their attempts to impose their weird religious beliefs as reason enough to kill us. We need to plan accordingly and do what we can to destroy them.
A great deal of confusion seems to be that we in the 'West' view religion as not able to impose its rules and laws. Islam is different.
ReplyDeleteNot only is Islam able to enforce its laws, it is fielding an army. And it is at war against us.
You are correct. This war is much, much larger than most people think.
