GAO sides with Sealy, Tx truck plant over Oshkosh

The Hill:

GAO has upheld the protest against the Army’s estimated $3 billion truck contract to Oshkosh.

In a major victory for BAE Systems, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on Monday upheld a protest the defense company filed against the Army’s award of an estimated $3 billion truck contract to Oshkosh Corp.

GAO’s decision could allow BAE Systems Land and Armaments in Sealy, Texas, to continue producing the Army’s Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV). It could also help BAE avoid laying off 3,000 workers at the plant.

...

Sealy is an hour or so south of Washington, Texas and is where NFL star Eric Dickerson went to high school. The award to Oshkosh was a stunning surprise to the Texas congressional delegation. The GAO win was not complete and the truck builder still must await the Army's decision on how to deal with the GAO report.

  1. one way or the other the trucks will be unuseable in some years after there will be no war :) so maybe they just need to find-out about truck rental and don't buy them? :)
