Texas to add nuclear power to the grid

Texas Governor Greg Abbott and the Public Utility Commission of Texas have identified 61 possible sites across the state for new nuclear reactors.

A recently-released state report on Advanced Nuclear Energy is hoping to bring in over $50 billion in new economic output to Texas, along with $27 billion in income for Texas workers.

Governor Abbott announced the state's new plan, saying the plants would enhance the "reliability" of the state grid and provide "affordable, dispatchable power" to residents.

"Texas is the energy capital of the world, and we are ready to be No. 1 in advanced nuclear power," the governor added.

Texas is the fastest-growing state in the US and with that growth needs to add more energy production to feed it.  We already know that Big Green is not up to the challenge even though Texas does have some wind farms.

Trump will appoint Chris Wright to be secretary of energy. Wright is the CEO of fracking firm Liberty Energy. He has said, “There is no climate crisis and we are not in the midst of an energy transition either.” Stuff like that comes as a shock to the media and the global environmental movement who can’t stop writing and advocating about those two things, but he’s correct on both counts. Climate change may pose challenges, but they are manageable challenges. And, a true energy transition is a long way off: Currently, green energy is more of an addition to global supply than anything else. It will be a relief to have leadership tethered to reality rather than alarmism and central-planning schemes praised as “ambitious” by our moral superiors.
