Biden's Ukraine war blunder

 The Federalist Wire:

The Joe Biden and Kamala Harris administration received a ton of backlash after it was announced that Joe Biden would let Ukraine to use US-supplied missiles for deeper penetration into Russian-owned land. This was a major development because Joe Biden had previously said he would not endorse this decision.

Months later, that’s out the window and the Bided administration’s allowing it. Foreign policy commentators and experts immediately questioned the decision, with some saying it was a blatant decision to embrace war rather than a decision to seek to end the war between Ukraine and Russia.

Well now the consequences are already coming and it’s not looking good. Joe Biden’s administration has put the whole world in nuclear harm’s way because of this war escalation decision to allow US missiles to be used against Russia on their own territory.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin revised Russia’s nuclear doctrine, lowering the threshold for the potential use of nuclear weapons. This announcement came just as the Russian military reported that Ukraine had fired long-range missiles into Russian territory, reportedly supplied by the United States.

The new nuclear doctrine formalizes a significant shift in Russia’s stance on the use of nuclear weapons. Under the revised policy, Russia now asserts the right to use nuclear weapons in response to an attack from a non-nuclear state if that state is supported by a nuclear power. This policy change appears to be a direct reference to the United States’ ongoing military assistance to Ukraine. The update to the doctrine aligns with a statement Putin made in September, during a televised meeting with top Russian officials.

While this move looks like an obvious response of Putin and the Russians I have seen no evidence that Biden or the White House had prepared for it.  The war in Ukraine has not been a success for Putin and Russia.  They thought they could take the country in a matter of days.  It has already become a 1000-day slog with no end in sight and has exposed the weakness of the Russian military which has endured thousands of casualties from what they thought was a much weaker power.

One problem with the missile attacks was that they had little potential for defeating the Russians.  Ukraine would have been better served if they had focused on drafting the Russian invasion force.
