The judges questionable order on immigration EO

NY Times:

Rulings on Trump’s Immigration Order Are First Step on a Long Legal Path

The court orders, provisional and limited, gave preliminary hints about whether judges would strike down part or all of Mr. Trump’s executive order.
She never should have issued the order.  Neither of the alleged plaintiffs were being detained at the time she issued the order.  One of the men even praised President Trump.  That meant there was no legal basis for a restraining order.  But the judged gloomed onto their initial delay as an excuse to issue and even broader order.

Her order appears to be based more on her politics than on the law.  She was appointed by Obama and recommended by Chuck Schumer who immediately touted her order.
