Isolation has been an ineffective weapon in deterring Iran's nuclear ambitions.  One of the more ridiculous strategies I have seen proposed in an oped was to persuade them to adopt wind and solar, as if power generation was the goal and not a by product of their program.   BTW, I don't think that was a proposal supported by the administration, but it does give you an idea to the delusions some on the left have about the problem with Iran.
