Turkey's bizaar reaction to detention of their troops in Iraq

When it comes to Turkish forces in northern Iraq the question has to be asked--quo warranto? By what authority are they there.

Apparently they are there because the Turks fear a free Kurd population asking for the same thing in Turkey. But no one has authorized their presences in Iraq, so it is more than passing strage that Turks are upset with the US because some of their special forces soldiers were detained by US forces.

Since they offered to assistance to the liberation of Iraq, it is pretty arrogant of the Turks to think they have some right to have their troops in Iraq to begin with. At this point the US is having to deal with the arogance of the impotents.

Other reports suggest the Turks arrested were plotting to kill the Kurdish governor of Kirkuk.

"'I don't know that they had a legitimate purpose for being there, and if there was, why wasn't it coordinated with coalition forces in the region?' the Defense Department official said before the release of the Turkish soldiers was announced. 'We're trying to determine what they were doing, and why they were there, and whether or not they were up to something inappropriate.'"
