Disinfect the BBC
What to do with the BBC. The author has five options. She should add a sixth.
The BBC needs to give up its funding from the government. Its assets should be sold to a commercial broadcaster. If someone can make a commercial success out of left wing broadcasting, more power to them. If not, they could try the fair and balanced approach and see if there is a market for that.
The problem with the BBC is exactly the same as described in Goldberg's book on liberal bias in the US media. They do not set out to distort and misrepresent conservatives, the US and Israel. They just accept that there view is the only rational one. They do not even comprehend their own bias.
Even after the substance of their report on the "sexed up" dossier is disproved, they still think they were right. They think they were right, because they opposed the government's policy in Iraq, and think that the only reason people went along with it is because they were mislead. Their current theme is not about news, but is about how the government mislead people into an unnecessary war.
They ignore the human rights of the Iraqi people which Blair also gave as a reason to got to war. When the WMD are found, they will try to explain them away too. They are no longer an honest news organization. They are an organization of true believers. What they believe is that the US and Irael are the bad guys and their government is too when it agrees with the US or Israel.
