Texas Democrat nominee for governor faces dissension in the ranks

NY Times:

In Texas Governor’s Race, Lupe Valdez Faces Resistance From Fellow Democrats

Ms. Valdez is a Latina, a lesbian and the Democratic nominee for governor. But some activists on the left say she’s not worthy of their support, particularly because of her record on immigration.
She is running way behind Governor Abbott regardless of her stand on immigration.  An open borders policy is not politically popular in Texas.  The Democrat running against Ted Cruz has come out in favor of an open borders policy and has fallen further behind Cruz already.

Valdez has run a lackluster campaign since securing the nomination and is woefully underfunded.  She has also been embarrassed by reports that she has passed due property taxes.  Texas is likely to continue its run of having no Democrat candidate win a statewide race.
