The end of 'sanctuary city' nonsense in DC

 DC Daily Journal:

...

Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Thursday the termination of Washington, D.C.’s sanctuary city policies, demanding the swift removal of measures that have long shielded illegal immigrants involved in crime from federal authorities. This directive comes as part of President Donald Trump’s aggressive push to federalize law enforcement in D.C., placing the Metropolitan Police under direct oversight to tackle surging violence and decay that have plagued the city under years of Democratic leadership.

...

Good riddance.  What the city is trying to do is ignore US immigration laws, and in the process, they have made the city more dangerous.  There should be no "sanctuary cities" in the US for illegals.

President Donald Trump is delivering on his promise to make America safe again, starting right in the heart of our nation’s capital. In a move that’s got leftists squirming, Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department is finally stepping up to work hand-in-hand with federal immigration enforcers. This game-changing order from Police Chief Pamela A. Smith marks the death knell for DC’s disastrous sanctuary policies that have shielded criminals for far too long.

“Officers in Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department can now assist federal immigration authorities,” as the chief laid out in her directive. This means local cops can share critical intel during routine traffic stops and even help transport immigration agents and their catches. It’s about time – no more coddling illegals while American families suffer.

This shift comes hot on the heels of DC’s liberal elite finally admitting defeat. Since 2020, the city has been handcuffed by a sanctuary law that blocked cooperation with ICE, turning the capital into a magnet for lawbreakers. But Mayor Muriel Bowser is pushing to scrap that nonsense, and White House Border Czar Tom Homan didn’t mince words: “DC was ‘not going to be a sanctuary city.'”
