US advisers have little to work with in Iraq

Iraq rattled by army deserters, analysts say

Even as U.S. advisers deploy, the "psychological collapse" of the local military offers little hope that territory can be quickly reclaimed from militants.
I think it will take more than a few hundred advisers to rehab this demoralized force.  They will also have to deal with the challenge of the Sadr militia that threatens to shoot them in the back.
