Petrochemicals, once simply a cheap byproduct, are powering a U.S. manufacturing boom and export bonanza
The petrochemical companies have invested billions in new facilities along the Texas Gulf Coast and many of them are just now coming into operation.  They are creating thousands of jobs and a huge export potential that will directly impact the US balance of trade.  Exxon and Dow have invested heavily in the new plants and the Saudis have also joined the competition.
