Afghan's turn against Taliban?

An uprising in Panjwai has spread through dozens of other villages in southern Afghanistan, in the most significant popular turning against the Islamist insurgents in recent years.
I can understand why they would not want to be under the thumb of the Islamist religious bigots and their illiterate mobs.  Perhaps they have also come to the conclusion they are going to have to do the job themselves as NATO begins to leave the area.  It is too soon to tell whether this trend will succeed, but it is a start.
