16 illegals found in back of stalled truck in Houston

Houston Chronicle:
More than a dozen suspected illegal immigrants were found stuffed in the back of a large truck that was stalled on the Sam Houston Parkway in southwest Houston Thursday night, officials said.

The truck was spotted about 8:30 p.m. on the West Beltway 8 near the Westpark Tollway, according to Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office.

Officials said a deputy stopped when he saw the truck. Then the truck the driver (sic) jumped out and ran away.

Deputies opened the back of the truck and found 16 people who said they were from Central and South America.
...
This is the new face of illegal immigration.  Usually the drivers are hired by the Mexican drug cartels to bring these people to a stash house in a major city like Houston.  The trucks are usually stolen.  The upper management of the Department of Homeland Security seems clueless about this new form of illegal immigration.  I suspect it is willful ignorance because I am sure ICE officials know what is going on, but management is restricting their ability to do their job.
