Santorum hits Obama on high gas prices

 In remarks to a crowd of about 250 people Tuesday night, former senator Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) appeared to suggest that President Obama has a plan to keep gasoline prices high in an effort to keep Americans driving less and, as a result, reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
The suggestion by Santorum comes as the entire GOP field is seizing on the high price of gasoline to slam the Obama administration’s energy policy. It also comes as Obama is slated to give an address on Friday in which he is expected to lay out new proposals for increasing domestic energy production and bring down fuel prices.
“The president of the United States, when he ran for office, talked about – talked about how he could higher prices for gasoline,” Santorum told the crowd. “Why? Well, because he was concerned about global warming.”
The crowd in the auditorium of Phoenix’s El-Zaribah Shrine responded with boos.
“And they needed to reduce CO2 emissions,” Santorum said. “Which means you need to drive less. And the only way we could force Americans to drive less was to make it expensive for you to drive. And that’s why, and here we have now a systematic plan in place by this president to, number one, reduce the drilling of oil and gas in this country.”
Obama, Santorum said, “has done everything he can to the regulatory process to shut it off -- offshore; deepwater. ... Not granting permits. Not building the Keystone Pipeline.”

Santorum is correct in describing the Obama policy.  It has been one of strangling domestic production of oil and gas while subsidizing inefficient  "clean tech" energy.  The story suggest Obama is going to change his tune and talk about ways of increasing domestic production, but you can bet he will not be sincere.  If he really meant it he would be opening up offshore areas he has made off limits on the East and West coast and areas in Alaska such as ANWR.  There are also areas in the Western US that should be opened to development.

Obama maybe having an election year conversion on the issue, but it is just more bad faith from an administration that has tried to strangle domestic production.

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
