The Democrat mixed message on energy

The Hill:

Sen. Schumer tells Clinton to pressure Saudi Arabia to pump more oil

So, if the Saudis pump more oil it lowers the price, but if the US were permitted to pump more oil it would not effect the price?  Democrats have a strained relationship with the laws of supply and demand.
