The Iranian retreat from Syria

Times of Israel:
Israel: Iran has withdrawn most of its Revolutionary Guards from Syria

Dozens of Iranian fighters said killed; Hezbollah, which has lost up to 1,500 men, reportedly fears anti-Assad rebels could now prevail

...
The high number of Revolutionary Guards casualties in Syria came as a shock to Iranian commanders, notably including IRGC Al-Quds Force leader Qassem Soleimani, who has been closely following developments in the war-torn country.
...
Many of the casualties have been senior officers in Al-Quds.  This has to be a bitter pill for the Iranian regime which talked Russia into entering the war to prop up their ally.  It appears that Russian air support was not enough to turn the tide.
