Supreme Court looks at speech limitations on a license plate

States have always had limits on what people can get on vanity plates. The specialty plates have general been about college logos and veterans such as Purple Heart plates. Plates with a symbol of the flag of a failed revolution are seen as more divisive. On Monday, the Supreme Court will hear a challenge to an appellate ruling that Texas had discriminated against the Sons of Confederate Veterans by rejecting a proposed novelty license plate featuring a Confederate Flag.
