Storm not a bad as redicted

NY Times:

New York City Is Spared the Worst Effects of the Snowstorm

The National Weather Service said the blizzard warning for the city had been canceled, as the dire warnings that it could be one of the worst storms in the city’s history failed to materialize.
The weather forecasters seem to have a bias toward dire predictions.  For them it is better to be wrong on the dire side than underestimate a storms potential.   I suspect the same thing is true of the dire predictions about global warming.
