Armed Robber Suffers Cardiac Arrest During Robbery

[January 21, 2015 - EDGEWOOD, MD] On January 19th, Deputies from the Harford County Sheriff's Office responded to the Aldi Grocery Store in Edgewood for the report of an armed robbery in progress.

Upon arrival, Deputies were directed to a male who was lying face down on the floor inside the business who appeared to be suffering from cardiac arrest. As Deputies searched the business, other Deputies initiated CPR and prepared for the use of an Automated External Defibulator (AED). Prior to the use of the AED, during a search of the subject, a handgun was located under his body.

The AED was used twice by Deputies to shock the subject's heart in an effort to re-establish an effective heart rhythm. Witnesses confirmed the subject, who matched the description provided deputies by the Emergency Operations Center, as the person who attempted to rob the store.

Wayne Clark, 52, burst into Aldi, announced a robbery and demanded cash before falling face-down on the floor. Police called to the Edgewood store at 9.30pm on Monday were unable to revive him.
He picked the wrong line of work.
