Chron wants people to accept the most hated legislation in history

Houston Chronicle Editorial:
News flash: Observers can't even agree how many times Republican House members have repealed President Obama's Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. It might be 38. It could be as many as 42.

Why is this no surprise?

Get over it, GOP House members. Obamacare is the law of the land. It was passed by solid majorities in both theU.S. House of Representatives and Senate, signed by the president, and ratified by a decision of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Get over it. That advice also goes out to leaders of three major unions who have been whining that the Affordable Care Act will harm their members and calling for it to be reworked or scrapped altogether

That takes real nerve. Aren't these some of the same folks who were in the White House, behind closed doors in early 2010, when the administration was carving out waivers and exemptions for its political allies? Sorry, fellows, you've had your chance.

Speaking at the White House on Thursday, the president set the proper and necessary forward-looking tone. It's time to give politics a rest and focus on October, when the historic health-care reform begins to kick into gear.
...
This is nonsense on stilts.  It is bad policy and bad politics.  The Republican base despises this legislation and it would be political suicide to support it now.  The unions and others are just now figuring out what a bad law it is.  The law is also losing support from moderate and conservative Democrats.  Only a few liberals support this mess, and the Chronicle has tipped its hand as to which camp it fits.
