Many in the west have been slow to realize that the root cause of the enemy's war against us is his religious bigotry. This religious bigotry infests many in the Muslim world, but its key weakness is that the bigotry is not just toward the west and Christians and Hindus but includes other Muslims who do not have the same weird beliefs.

Liberals keep wanting to blame terrorism on a lack of liberal social programs. Sen. Patty Murray was one of the worst examples of this, but it is still pervasive in much of the liberal media and among liberal politicians. Even Tony Blair was shocked by the 7-7 London bombings right after he initiated some programs to improve the life of Muslims in other countries. It was then that he had the epiphany that bigotry was the root cause. The BBC is still awaiting that epiphany.

Andy McCarthy gets it. He also gets how the enemy uses our pretrial disclosure process to learn our sources and methods of gathering intelligence against its operations. Lawfare, as practiced by the Clinton administration permitted the 9-11 attacks to go forward without detection as to the time and place of attack. Bin Laden discovered during the African Embassy trials that we were monitoring his satellite phone and he stopped using it. I am putting McCarthy's book on my to do list.
