Dem race finished or not?
SHE lost hard in North Carolina, and barely held on to win Indiana. Hillary Clinton just doesn't have enough straws left to clutch. The best (or worst) she can hope to do the rest of the way is bloody Barack Obama enough to make him lose in the fall, allowing her to come back in 2012.Thomas DeFrank says no:In fact, Obama basically clinched the nomination with his string of 11 straight primary and caucus wins in February, many by wipe-out margins - giving him a lead in elected delegates that Clinton couldn't hope to close, especially given the nutty proportional-representation rules that govern the Democratic Party.
Do the math. Last night's results leave him with a lead among elected delegates of 150 or so, and among all delegates of around 130.
Only a handful of states are left to vote, with a combined total of about 230 delegates. She'll probably win West Virginia, Kentucky and Puerto Rico - and lose Oregon, North Dakota, and Montana. She most likely could pick up a net 10 delegates, leaving him with a lead of at least 130 (110, counting in superdelegates).

I don't know where DeFrank found these guys but they are not representative of the opposition to Obama even among Democrats. I don't know of any respectable conservative blogger who is pushing this meme. The opposition to Obama boils down to opposition to liberalism and his association with people who hate America. His comfort in being around such people raises flags that these people have stepped and danced on.While the case for Hillary Clinton to stay in the race is shakier than ever, one ugly reason for staying in could be found Tuesday amid the ruddy, sun-kissed Hoosiers who cheered her on to victory at the Indianapolis Speedway.
With Clinton posing alongside pioneering Indy speedster Sarah Fisher, there were almost no African-Americans to be seen. Many in the white, working-class crowd were simply not ready to back Barack Obama - for reasons that are disturbing.
"I'm kind of still up in the air between McCain and Hillary," said Jason Jenkins, 32, who cited information from a hoax e-mail as a reason to spurn Obama.
"I'll be honest with you. Barack scares the hell out of me,"he said. "He swore on the Koran."
Obama did manage to pull in many white voters, but still encountered similar sentiments from a man who refused to shake his hand at a diner in Greenwood, Ind.
"I can't stand him," the man said. "He's a Muslim. He's not even pro-American as far as I'm concerned."
...
I oppose him because of his ignorance of warfare and his eagerness for defeat in Iraq.
I don't really think Clinton is counting on the "He's a Muslim" voters. What she is counting on are her base of blue collar workers and women voters that have sustained her efforts. She is also hoping for more Obama screw ups. Even with his big win in North Carolina, it is the only one he has had since late February. He has been limping to the finish line and one big win does not finish the race. It certainly didn't in Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
I don't think her staying in the race will hurt Obama as much as people like Morris seem to think. Polling of Democrats has shown they want the race to continue whether pundits and politicians do or not. What is wrong with letting everyone have their vote?
