Are they talking about the same campaign?

The NY Times has this Adam Nagourney story:

Lack of Progress in McCain’s Bid Is G.O.P. Concern

While the Politico has this story:

GOP strategists mull McCain ‘blowout’

The Times story seems to focus on what would be called "distractions" if the Obama campaign was under discussion. The Politico looks at how McCain can win big despite the "distractions."

I also have to question the headline in the times suggesting a lack of progress when in fact most polls show McCain moving up and some show him in the lead. It appears tha he will be running against the weaker of the two Democrats where Democrat voters have said they will not support him. Perhaps Nagourney believes McCain should have a more robust lead.

You get the impression that with all of the problems the two Democrats have had of late, some editor at the Times thought they needed to balance those stories with one showing McCain problems. None of the ones described sound that significant or substantive.
