Al Qaeda demonstrates its deparavity in Iraq

One of the two suicide bombers who struck a wedding convoy this week in northern Iraq was a woman "imitating pregnancy," the U.S. military said Friday.

The military in a statement blamed the Sunni militant group al Qaeda in Iraq for Thursday's attack that killed 35 people and wounded dozens more in Balad Ruz, a town northeast of Baghdad in the volatile Diyala province.

Military investigators said the woman carried out the first bombing, which was next to a children's shoe store and a cafe. When rescue crews arrived at the scene, a male attacker detonated a second bomb, the military said.

Thursday's suicide attack marked the fourth involving a female bomber in 11 days.

"By striking near a hospital, targeting civilians and wounding even small children, the enemy has once again demonstrated its total depravity and complete disregard for human life," said Maj. Geoffrey M. Schmalz.

We don't have to worry about an al Qaeda "hearts and minds campaign" in Iraq anymore because no one in the organization appears to have either.

These attacks are another example of the enemies war crimes and violations of the Geneva Conventions. I remind people of that , because few in the media ever will. Maj. Schmalz has it exactly right.
