Move from Giuliani to McCain continues in California

Arizona Sen. John McCain rose to the top of Republican presidential pack in California, with former front-runner Rudy Giuliani's popularity down sharply, according to the latest Field Poll released on Wednesday.

Former New York City Mayor Giuliani had led the poll in the nation's most populous state as recently as last month with 25 percent support, but saw his standing drop to 11 percent, tied for third with former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

In the Field Poll of 377 likely Republican voters, 22 percent said they favored McCain and 18 percent preferred former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

The poll, taken January 14-20, had a sampling error of plus or minus 5.2 percentage points.

I noticed several days ago that Rudy's decline corresponded with McCain's rise in several polls. That is too bad. As a Rudy supporter, I can say that McCain is not that high on my list when it comes to second choices in this contest. With Thompson dropping out and Huckabee fading, that basically leaves Romney. I will have to see who is left in the race in March when I get a chance to vote. Hopefully voters will remember why they did not like McCain to begin with.

    A vote for McCain is a vote for Bush.
    They are both complete idiots who think the war in Iraq is the right thing.
    McCain and Bush spend money, and then tell the people that Democrats are big spenders.

    A vote for McCain is a vote for AMNESTY. Unfortunately the only person worth voting for ( RP ) is low in the polls. When this country hits the curb, 90% of us will not even have a context for why it happened or how to fix it. It always amazes me that people think they have a civic duty to vote, but not a civic duty to inform themselves and learn about the candidates. They also play this game where they try to guess the winner, so they can all jump on the bandwagon like a bunch of lemmings. What do you win for guessing the winner?

Drones appear to be replacing jets for many operations.  The Russia-Ukraine war is an example of that.  Drones are often hard to detect and can be used for intelligence operations as well as for attacking enemy targets.  It would not surprise me to see drones engaging other drones in combat.  They also cost much less than manned fighters.

Apple's huge investment in US including Texas facility

Blaze: Apple announced a $500 billion commitment to infrastructure in the United States over four years, its largest commitment to domestic spending to date. Apple said it will expand teams and facilities in Arizona, California, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, and Washington as part of its new spending. With a new facility in Houston, Texas, Apple will reportedly double its investment in advanced manufacturing along with increasing investments in AI and silicon engineering. The company said in a press release that the Houston facility will produce servers to support Apple Intelligence, the "personal intelligence system that helps users write, express themselves, and get things done." ... The Texas facility will be for advanced technologies.   Texas has become a place that is very supportive of the tech industries.  Austin and Houston have seen much of the tech growth in the state.  Texas universities have been active in the AI field.
