Trump vs. the media
...
During a fiery press conference on Tuesday, President Donald Trump didn’t hold back when a reporter repeatedly interrupted him, calling out the journalist and declaring that Americans are fed up with “horrible people” like him.
The confrontation underscored Trump’s signature approach of standing up to the media and defending his positions unapologetically.
The exchange began when the reporter questioned Trump about his administration’s decision to pardon individuals involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol events.
Rather than seek clarity, the reporter attempted to stir controversy by pitting Trump against Vice President J.D. Vance, asking why Vance was “wrong” about his comments on the matter.
As Trump started to respond, the interruptions began. True to form, Trump wasn’t having it.
“Listen to me for a second,” Trump shot back, his tone firm. “Stop interrupting.”
Trump pressed on, explaining the public’s frustration with the justice system’s handling of January 6 participants compared to other criminal cases.
“They served years in jail, and if you look at the American public, the American public is tired of it. Take a look at the election. Just look at the numbers on the election,” Trump said, emphasizing the widespread support for his leadership.
“We won this election in a landslide, because the American public is tired of people like you that are just one-sided, horrible people, in terms of crime.”
The president didn’t stop there. He turned the focus to what he sees as a larger issue with the media and the justice system, accusing them of selective outrage and misplaced priorities.
“You don’t talk about all the people that have been killed and what happens to those murderers,” Trump said, calling out the double standard.
He lambasted soft-on-crime policies implemented by certain district attorneys who, he said, prioritize political agendas over justice.

I agree with Trump that the Jan. 6 defendants were overcharged. It was a demonstration that got a little out of hand and prosecutors and some in the media wanted to treat it like a violent insurrection. I have seen no evidence that the demonstrators were armed. There are still some lingering doubts about the 2020 election that the left does not share.
