Hispanic Democrat switches to Republican in Texas

Without even winning a race, Texas Republicans have increased their ranks by one this week as Rep. Ryan Guillen of Rio Grande City announced his switch to the Republican Party.

The now-former Democrat, who’s served in the Texas House since 2003, announced the party affiliation switch in Floresville, the Wilson County seat on Monday morning.

“Something is happening in South Texas. Many of us are waking up to the fact that the values in Washington D.C. are not our values in South Texas,” Guillen said at the announcement. “I’m proud to continue voting the way I have and not doing so against my party.”

I suspect there will be more border area party switches as Hispanic border residents are fed up with Biden's open border policy which has been costly to residents as well as increased crime.  The trend was also underway in 2020 even before Biden was elected and has accelerated because of his failure to enforce immigration laws.

29 % of companies say they are unlikely to keep insurance after Obamacare

Conn Carroll: A new survey of 368 midsize to large companies found that 29% of them are considering terminating their active employee health care plans when Obamacare is full implemented in 2014. Only 71% of employers surveyed said they did not expect to drop their health coverage, while 20% said they did not know and 9% said they were planning to exit. The latest survey, conducted by Towers Watson, echoes an ealier survey by McKinsey & Co. finding that 30% of private-sector employers were planning to drop their employee health insurance coverage by 2014. When the Congressional Budget Office crunched Obamacare's spending numbers, they estimated that only 7% of employees currently covered by employer-sponsored plans would lose their plans. ...
