Comey revealed as Democrat partisan in spat with Gowdy

Washington Times:
witter snark by former FBI Director James B. Comey toward Rep. Trey Gowdy did not go unnoticed on Thursday.

The author of “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership” was not happy with the South Carolina Republican for comments to Fox News regarding his closed-door hearing with two House committees — Judiciary, and Oversight and Government Reform.

Mr. Comey’s anger, displayed via sarcastic tweets about the process, received a barbed response shortly thereafter by Mr. Gowdy.

“And I was worried this wouldn’t be a dignified, open-minded search for the truth,” Mr. Comey tweeted Thursday in response to the Republican calling him an “amnesiac with incredible hubris.”

Mr. Gowdy replied later Thursday.

“Director Comey, I was disappointed in what you didn’t remember, but even more disappointed in what you never knew,” he wrote, echoing a statement he made on Wednesday to Fox’s Martha MacCallum. “I’ll see you on Monday.”

At issue is Mr. Comey’s handling of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, along with the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
...
“I think Jim Comey was primarily motivated by a desire to protect the brand of Jim Comey,” Mr. Gowdy told Fox on Wednesday.

“I defended him a lot in 2016, even when it was lonely to do so. I would still defend him today if I thought he was making the right decisions, but he has been so overtly partisan since he left — not just [with] the president, but he wants people to vote Democrat, he wants a Democrat House. He’s just become a political flunky,” he said. “It’s the same guy, in this very room that you and I are in right now, said the FBI doesn’t give a hoot about politics … Go read Comey’s Twitter feed and see whether or not he cares about politics.”
...
For the director of the FBI, Comey was remarkably uninformed if you believe what he says about the dossier.   If he really did not know that Clinton paid Perkins Coie who paid Fusion GPS, who paid Steele, he is a very poor investigator as are those who worked with him on the matter.  Not only was he a poor investigator, but he was also a poor manager.

He went to a FISA court and vouched for Steel and the dossier even though he knew it was unverified.  He worked with people like Brennan and Clapper to make the document public with his meeting with Trump being leaked.  Those who advised the President to keep Comey after that meeting made a mistake.
