Liberals in Baltimore crack down on police instead of crooks and get increased killings as result
Washington Post:
The way to reduce the killing requires increase police presence. You have to increase the force to space ratio in those neighborhoods to deter criminal activity. While some in those neighborhoods may resent the police presence, it is better than being dead. Community policing is far superior to out of control homicides.
Homicides have soared in Baltimore — and arrests have plummeted — since the death of Freddie GrayCity officials in Baltimore reacted to the Freddie Gray situation with emotion rather than intelligence. They thought the problem was the police and not the criminals. They wound up with more crime and more homicides by pulling back the cops from the neighborhoods that needed policing the most.
Police and community leaders say the issue has roots in the deep distrust stoked by Gray’s death and in caseloads that are overwhelming.
