Drone swarms designed to break through enemy air defenses and be retrieved

Daily Mail:

US military is developing 'Gremlin' drones to overwhelm enemy defenses and conduct missions too dangerous for manned aircraft

The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is developing the swarms of re-usable drone aircraft that can work together to perform a mission.
The drones could be used as many as 20 times as they returned to an airborne aircraft carrier that was out of range of enemy fire.  It would be a potent stand off weapon that could prepare the battle field for man fighter jets to follow.  They could probably take the place of expensive cruise missiles.
