Bodies of sacrificed children were buried in special cemeteries called tophets in Ancient Carthage, a Phoenician colony located in what is now Tunisia.
I think many of the bodies were placed in urns that were then stacked into the "special cemeteries."   The speculation is that the practice caused the Phoneticians who settled in Carthage did so because the practice was frowned on by those in Lebanon where they originated.  Carthage was eventually destroyed after the second Punic war where the Romans finally defeated Hannibal and his army.
