Biden is the dead blow hammer to Obama campaign

In furniture building a dead blow hammer is used to force joints together. It is preferred because it does not damage the wood and does not bounce or mar the way a rubber mallet would. Biden's joining with Obama has had a similar effect on the Obama campaign.

Gallup reports that since the announcement their tracking poll "shows 46% of national registered voters backing John McCain and 44% supporting Obama." Before the announcement Obama had a two point advantage and for the two previous days the poll as been tied at 45%.
