A convention without passion
I have been bored by the Democrats this week and I suspect others have judging by the declining poll numbers for Obama.
I realize it is not their purpose or their job to entertain me, but the phoniness of the "unity" just leaves you cold. The roll call vote had some of its typical phoniness, but it certainly had no drama. I think they would have generated more excitement if they had not made it clear that they wanted it decided before they got to Denver.
By forcing Clinton to quit her campaign the Obama people squeezed the excitement out of the convention. These things have become party infomercials sometime ago, but the Democrats had a rare opportunity to have an exciting convention and they blew it.
While I have not been a Democrat for decades and can't pretend to be excited about their nomination, it does strike me that the delegates aren't that excited either. I think that is one reason why the McCain people generated some excitement in Denver. They seemed to be some of the few people with any passion about the outcome.
