Al Qaeda in Iraq confesses to kidnapping of envoy

Washington Post:

Al Qaeda in Iraq said on Saturday it had kidnapped the chief of the Algerian mission in Baghdad earlier this week, according to an Internet statement.

"Algeria rushed to obey the crusaders by sending its envoy to Iraq ... did you not learn from the fate of the ambassador of the Egyptian tyrant?" asked the statement on an Islamist Web site frequently used by the group led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

Liberals still claim tht al Qaeda was not associated with Iraq, but its leader in Iraq was hosted by Saddam who also had Zarqawi's wounds received in Afghanistan treated in Baghdad. Zarqawi also worked with Saddam's intelligece services in setting up terrorist facilities in northern Iraq where Saddam was trying to undermine Kurdish independence. It is another example of liberal's conscience avoidance of inconvient facts.
