Al Qaeda distracts itself from its war in Iraq
While Democrats have attempted to ignore al Qaeda's prewar presents in Iraq and its prewar association with Saddam, they have also claimed that the war in Iraq is a distraction from the war with al Qaeda. To make that argument they also have to igore al Qaeda's maximum effort it is engaging in to find human bombers for death in Iraq.
Where al Qaeda has been trying to dominate the news cycle with explosions of car bombs in Iraq, in an attempt to put political pressure on the US, they have taken the pressure off and refocused the news cameras on London and now Egypt. MSNBC headlines this evening do not even mention Iraq. At CNN, the only mention of Iraq is a story about the new constitution.
Some months ago, the US got intelligence that bin Laden and Zarqawi wanted to start making attacks outside of Iraq. It appears that that intelligece was correct. It also appears to be another strategic blunder by al Qaeda. The London bombing exposed some of their network in the UK, but has resulted in more damage to their organization in Pakistan where several al Qaeda operatives have been picked up and many of their sympathisers have also been rounded up.
In the UK, where tolerance of the death cults hate speech has been allowed, laws are being proposed to drive the merchants of hate out of the country and create a world wide list of all of al Qaeda's hate talkers/recruiters. The likely results of the attacks in Egypt will be the roll up of more of the groups operatives.
However, the biggest damage to al Qaeda has come through the demonstration that their leftist allies have been wrong all along. While some on the left have attempted to argue that the attacks were a response to actions in Iraq, John Howard's comments to reporters in London destroy that ridiculous arguement. Even if the attacks were a direct response to the war against al Qaeda in Iraq, it would be irrelevant.
What is clear now, is that the death cult is not motivated by the things that the leftist claimed. It is clear to everyone that the motivation is religious bigotry and that has become the focus of the latest respones to the death cult. That clarity could have significant consequences for the al Qaeda death cult in the coming days.
