Obama administration accused to interfering with US operations against Iran

 DC Daily Journal:

The Obama administration’s dealings with Iran are coming under renewed scrutiny, as a bombshell report reveals how the State Department—under then-Secretary John Kerry—actively interfered with law enforcement efforts targeting Iranian criminals.

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released a damning report on recently, packed with whistleblower testimony and internal documents exposing how the Obama State Department obstructed FBI and DOJ operations against Iranian targets.

This interference, according to the report, coincided with the administration’s desperate push for a nuclear deal with Tehran.

Grassley did not mince words in his reaction to the findings, calling the report “chilling” and accusing the Obama administration of having “jeopardiz[ed] our national security.”

According to the report, the meddling only ceased once President Donald Trump took office in 2017, reversing course and taking a hardline stance against Iran.

“Democrats’ historic refusal to get tough on Iran emboldened its regime and allowed Tehran to continue funding global acts of terrorism, like what we saw on October 7, 2023,” Grassley said.
...

I suspect Obama and Kerry thought they could make the Iranian regime change their hostile acts.  Iran is still ruled by Islamic religious bigots and its actions will only change after there is regime change in Iran.  Trump should unleash the FBI and DOJ so it can deal with the threats posed by Iran.
