FBI not cooperating in Congressional investigation of Biden corruption
Chairman James Comer of the House Oversight Committee is taking steps to hold FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt over the agency’s refusal to release a document related to an alleged criminal scheme involving President Biden and a foreign individual. Comer had previously issued a subpoena for the document but was dissatisfied with the FBI’s explanation that it needed to safeguard its confidential human source program.
The House of Representatives is accusing Wray of defying or obstructing their authority and proceedings, resulting in contempt charges. Consequences for contempt can include legal penalties, fines, or imprisonment.
Despite setting a deadline for the document’s submission, the FBI failed to comply, prompting Comer to criticize their obstructive behavior. He announced the committee’s intention to hold Wray in contempt of Congress for defying a lawful subpoena, stressing the committee’s commitment to transparency and the pursuit of truth.
Recent reports have revealed that McCarthy is contemplating holding Director Wray in contempt if he fails to comply with the deadline. McCarthy stated:“Today is the deadline. So let me not just tell you, let me tell Director Christopher Wray right here, right now. If he misses the deadline today, I’m prepared to move contempt charges in Congress against him. We have jurisdiction over this. He can send us that document. We have the right to look at that, Republicans and Democrats alike in that committee, and if he does not follow through with the law, we will move contempt charges against Christopher Wray and the FBI. They are not above the law.”...
While it is possible that the FBI has its own investigation of Biden's corruption. If so, the FBI is unwilling to disclose that the investigation exists. If not, why not tell Congress what they have?
