House GOP wants info on racist application of monoclonal antibodies
A group of House Republicans is calling for the Department of Justice to investigate what they argue are racist clinical guidelines for the use of monoclonal antibody treatments to prioritize nonwhite people.
They said the Food and Drug Administration’s authorization for the monoclonal antibody treatments allows healthcare providers to consider the patient’s race when deciding whether to administer sotrovimab, the most effective monoclonal antibody treatment against the omicron variant.
“Absent evidence showing that race, independent of other factors, directly leads to different levels of COVID-19 severity for patients, this guidance appears to be nothing more than the FDA injecting the malignant scourge of Critical Race Theory into public health policy,” they wrote in a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland.
