70% of Americans experiencing climate change anxiety and depression, survey finds

...

A new survey from Yale shows that 70% of Americans are now very or somewhat worried about global warming as more and more of them show signs of anxiety or depression as a result of that worry.

Noah Oderberg is a psychologist working in Oakland. He says "You may have heard of PTSD- post traumatic stress disorder. A psychiatrist came up with pre-PTSD because it's not a trauma that's already occurred. It's a fear of a future trauma so it's this new idea. And it involves anxiety and depression."

He's seeing more and more people bringing up the subject of global warming in therapy citing feelings of sadness and despair. He says in California the wildfires and smoke are a trigger. The stakes are high.

Oderberg said "50% said they were planning to have fewer children and one of the reasons stated was their fear around climate change. It's very new and the field of psychology is not prepared for it."

This must be a California problem.  I am married to a Ph.D. psychologist and I do not recall her ever saying the climate is what is bothering her patients.

Personally, I think the climate is OK and I rather like it.  I also think the forecasts of climate change are greatly exaggerated.   Al Gore's prediction that the polls would be ice-free was not only dead wrong, but poles are having record cold weather this year.  The threat of the Greenland ice sheet melting and leading to coastal flooding has also failed to materialize.  Californias appear to be panicked by the left's false narrative of climate change as an excuse for their crappy alternative energy preferences.

BTW, if liberals are having fewer kids many will see that as a net plus for society in general.
