Biden's insane energy policy

 Nick Arama:

In the happy virtual reality that Joe Biden paints, everyone will get around on electric public transportation.

Except in this present reality, Joe Biden’s green dreams are harming Americans right now by shutting down our own energy independence, having to rely upon other countries, building up their options while cutting our own. He cut the Keystone XL pipeline and the drilling that the Willow Project in Alaska would have provided. Now he’s even considering cutting Enbridge’s Line 5.

How significant is that? According to Enbridge:

Line 5 supplies 65% of propane demand in the Upper Peninsula, and 55% of Michigan’s statewide propane needs. Overall, Line 5 transports up to 540,000 barrels per day (bpd) of light crude oil, light synthetic crude, and natural gas liquids (NGLs), which are refined into propane.

Lawmakers who represent that area called it “essential to the lifeblood of the Midwest.”

“Should this pipeline be shut down, tens of thousands of jobs would be lost across Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and the region; billions of dollars in economic activity would be in jeopardy; and the environment would be at greater risk due to additional trucks operating on roadways and railroads carrying hazardous materials,” Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio) wrote to President Biden last week in a letter that was signed by a dozen other congressional lawmakers.

They also pointed to the impact on prices and shortages should the pipeline be closed.

“Furthermore, as we enter the winter months and temperatures drop across the Midwest, the termination of Line 5 will undoubtedly further exacerbate shortages and price increases in home heating fuels like natural gas and propane at a time when Americans are already facing rapidly rising energy prices, steep home heating costs, global supply shortages, and skyrocketing gas prices.”

But it isn’t just Republicans objecting now to Biden’s horrible moves.

On Monday, 11 Democratic senators wrote to Biden and told him that whatever his green dreams, we needed to “ensure that Americans are able to afford to fill up their cars at the pump in the meantime.” Now that should be self-evident, but not apparently to Joe Biden.

...

Biden's energy policy is as half-assed as his retreat from Afghanistan.  He gives an order without even a thought to the consequences of doing what he orders.  This leaves people scrambling in his wake.  It is similar to someone ordering the construction of a high rise without a feasibility study, without permits, and without a foundation.  The Democrats who sent him the letter may have gotten his attention, but Biden is still clueless about solving the problem because he does not want to allow drilling and pipelines so he thinks about robbing the strategic petroleum reserve as a political band-aid at a time when he is limiting production.

Biden's energy policy is as screwy and thoughtless as his border policies and his Afghan withdrawal.  All three are evidence of a weak mind, poor organizational skills, and consideration of the risk factors involved in each.  This leaves administration officials flounder to deal with the mess he creates.
