The Emancipation Proclamation analogy fail

LA Times:
The Emancipation Proclamation's Precedent
One of the little known facts about the Emancipation Proclamation  is that it freed not one slave outside of the Confederacy.  It would have been unconstitutional to do so and Lincoln knew it.  That is why the Constitution was amended after the war and before the formerly Confederate states could vote on the amendments.

But another problem for those who would compare Obama's unlawful immigration policy to it, is that unlike the slaves in both the north and the south, illegal immigrants are free to leave this country at anytime assuming they are not serving time in a prison.

Those making the comparison are trading in historical ignorance.
